What a Miracle Looks Like

Scores of people have contacted us or dropped by to see our Miracle Gal since we announced to everyone how God healed Pat a week-and-a-half ago. Wow, what an incredible outpouring of love from you all! It's been a gas. (If you haven't read the story yet, check it out here: http://nightmayer.blogspot.com/2008/09/healed.html)

Two surprising but consistent comments have shown up in the messages we've received. First, let's call it what it is, many people simply cried when they heard the news. Overcome with joy and relief, they wept. Wow, now that's humbling. The second consistent comment was how words failed to express God's greatness. We thoroughly agree.

File this under this theme of words being inadequate. Here's just a 1-minute video I threw together with some footage of Pat's illness at its worst last winter, something we'd shot to show the doctors what we were talking about since these "episodes" came and went as they pleased. Also included, some stuff I shot just today. Before and after, compare and contrast, you get the idea. It was strangely fun and strangely gut-renching for me to make this.

Some things to remember about what you see: Absolutely ALL of Pat's movements, facial expressions, and contortions in the "before" section are beyond her control. Her body is doing what it wants. Also, though it may look like it, Pat wasn't in pain, just understandably uncomfortable. She improved some during the spring but had plateaued a couple of months ago, still a far cry from using sharp blades and twirling in the backyard!

We can't stop thanking God.

You know, if reaching people through art doesn't work, I think Pat may have a future in ballet! (Missionary style, of course!) Praise to the Mighty Healer!

What an amazing video! Even though we experienced the "before" in person, its truly amazing to see the after in comparison. Praise God for His infinite wisdom, grace, mercy, sovereignty, and perfect will. We know it was immensely difficult for you both to go through this, but, what a story and song of praise you have to sing to God and to others about the greatness of God!!
