People have been asking about Pat, so I do want to update you when there's anything to report. Here's the news from this week: Pat saw her doctor on Wednesday. Although the ER doc thought the culprit of these "episodes" was likely Pat's medicine, Pat's family doc isn't convinced of that. She did reduce Pat's dosage further still, mostly in an effort to get her down on the medicine before seeing the neurologist so he'll be able to better ascertain whether or not the medicine plays a part. For those of you keeping score at home, Pat and Kevin's UNprofessional opinion is that it's likely not the medication. Take that for what it's worth.
Last night Pat had another episode that lasted a bit over an hour. It played out pretty much like the first two, with only minor variations. As Pat says, "The novelty is wearing off." This one seemed to be brough on by the physical exertion of putting away groceries, then making spaghetti. As you can see, it doesn't take much so Pat is doing a whole lot of nothing today. The irony is that while Pat hates having to be "non-productive", Kevin would love it. (Though, there are those who would make the claim that he's always "non-productive" anyway, but that's fodder for another blog.) Earlier this week her doctor had said we need not take her to the hospital for these unless they went unusually long or were very different from previous ones.
I will let you know that your prayers are appreciated -- and do make a big difference. Normally the big, sudden reduction in her antidepressant would send her into a spiralling depression but that isn't happening. Not at all. So we thank God, and we thank you.
Your messages of encouragement are appreciated, so keep them coming. And a shout out to Karen for the ham and bean soup.
